Celebrating 75 Years of Nourishing the Philippines: Cargill Concludes Year-long Anniversary Celebration

In celebration of its 75th anniversary, Cargill has planted 7,500 trees to demonstrate their enduring commitment to nurturing the planet and its stakeholders.

Cargill proudly wraps up its year-long celebration of its 75th anniversary in the Philippines, showcasing its unwavering commitment to customers, employees, and communities through a series of impactful events.

“We have reaffirmed our commitment to our customers, employees, and communities through a year-long celebration of gratitude and growth. From cultivating strong partnerships with industry leaders to fostering a vibrant workplace culture and giving back to nature, every step we have taken has been a testament to our unwavering dedication to making positive impact,” said Mija Darlene Cachapero, Country President of Cargill Philippines.

In September, Cargill hosted a gala event and welcomed dignitaries from both the private and public sectors. The evening highlighted Cargill’s rich history in the Philippines and celebrated the strong partnerships cultivated with customers, partners, and communities, underscoring its positive impact on the industry and the nation.

With safety as a top priority, Cargill achieved an impressive 32 million safe man-hours, maintaining a clean record of zero incidents and fatalities. “Our commitment has always been to nourish the world in a safe, responsible way. This starts with putting our people first at the heart of our operations,” Cachapero shared. Cargill’s people-centered approach drives its mission to ensure that all its stakeholders thrive together.

Demonstrating its commitment to sustainability, Cargill launched a monumental tree planting initiative, engaging all business units nationwide from October 2023 to February 2024. Partnering with local government units, communities, and NGOs, Cargill planted a total of 7,500 trees, reflecting its dedication to environmental stewardship and giving back to nature. Additionally, Cargill has committed to investing around $2.6 million in projects that advance farmer livelihoods, drive environmental impact, and contribute to the agriculture industry.

Over the past 75 years, Cargill has been an integral part of the Philippines’ agriculture industry, contributing to food security and economic development, roughly feeding over 1 million Filipinos daily from its protein business alone. Through diversification of its product portfolio, creation of over 2,000 jobs, and support for local farmers, Cargill has played a vital role in shaping the industry. The company has also facilitated dialogue between industry and government to promote growth and best practices in the agriculture sector.

In a culmination to the anniversary celebration, Cargill Philippines organized its 75th Anniversary Fun Run, uniting over a thousand employees from various sites across the Philippines. With the collective goal of reaching 7.5 million steps, the event paid homage to 75 years of nourishing the nation.

“As we close this chapter, we carry with us our commitment and purpose of nourishing the Philippines in a safe, responsible and sustainable way for another 75 years to come,” Cachapero concluded.
