Accenture Philippines’ employee volunteers mobilize community development and environmental conservation activities in Manila, Cebu and Ilocos

Sharing various Accenture Philippines employee volunteers’ community development and eco-action activities, in line with its global-wide Season of Impact program that aimed to drive positive impact for the environment and societies. The activities coincided with company’s corporate citizenship month, during which Accenture Philippines’ employee volunteers in Manila, Cebu and Ilocos mobilized for different community development – under its Sulong Pinoy program and environmental conservation activities:

Sulong Pinoy Integrated Community Development

Sulong Pinoy, Accenture Philippines’ flagship integrated community development program highlights in Manila, Cebu and Ilocos included:

  • In Manila, Accenture Philippines and I-Home Greater Manila Area awarded six of the 18 completed housing units to six PWD families in Barangay Napindan in Taguig City. In addition, Accenture Philippines’ employee volunteers also mobilized for Hour of Code sessions to more than 30 PWD students; leadership training of 20 high school student leaders; and distribution of 600 school supplies kits at Napindan Integrated School. Livelihood workshops in soap-making, pastillas-making and basic makeup tutorial sessions were also conducted for 170 senior citizens and women.
  • In Ilocos, Accenture Philippines launched the Sulong Pinoy program at San Nicolas High School where the company presented initial findings of the Childs Right Situational Analysis and the turned over laptops in line with its technology enablement efforts in the community.
  • In Cebu, Accenture Philippines volunteers conducted various learning and enablement sessions for youth, women and residents of Barrio Luz such as: Skills to Succeed Academy enablement sessions for Sanggunian Kabataan officials and youth of Barrio Luz for eventual rollout in the community; SOGIE and Senior Citizens Act info sessions; and newspaper upcycling workshops for women.

 

Eco-Action Activities

To help drive lasting impact for the environment and the planet, Accenture Philippines’ volunteers came together and conducted various environmental conservation activities in various communities. Marking World Environment Day, Accenture Philippines joined Haribon Foundation in tree planting activities to help in the recovery and conservation of biodiversity in the country. Other eco-friendly activities included coastal clean-up in Las Piñas – Parañaque Wetland Park and the Takbo Para sa Kalikasan.

Accenture Philippines employees showcased their virtual skills by volunteering for Missing Maps. By putting vulnerable and underserved communities on the map through remote mapping and data validation, they helped create detailed maps for disaster response and public health initiatives. They also joined Zooniverse, a global community who help researchers and scientists analyze real data and make meaningful discoveries that benefit our planet.
