Halasan Creations for MUPH 2024 Chelsea Manalo Showcased in La Bulaqueña Exhibit at SM City Marilao

An extraordinary tribute to Bulacan’s artistry through fashion marks the launch of the La Bulaqueña Exhibit at SM City Marilao. On this unique occasion, mallgoers witnessed the remarkable creations worn by Bulacan’s pride, Miss Universe Philippines 2024 Chelsea Ann Manalo, and the man behind the masterpieces, the Bulakenyo fashion designer, jewelry and crown maker, Manny Halasan.

In collaboration with SM Supermalls and Manny Halasan, the La Bulaqueña Exhibit highlights four iconic creations showcased at this year’s Miss Universe Philippines pageant. More than a visual feast, the exhibit stands as a testament to the undeniable creativity and skill of a true-blooded Bulakenyo designer, while providing a glimpse of how these pieces came from vision to reality.

Depicting Chelsea Manalo’s journey to the crown, the Halasan creations showcased at the La Bulaqueña Exhibit were the National Costume “Mandaragit,” an illustrious depiction of the fusion between flowering trees and a quaint and exquisite bird that are both endemic in the Islands of the Philippines. The Preliminary Gown and back-up Coronation Gown, are inspired by the jewelries of Meycauayan, Bulacan. Finally, the Evening Gown, a masterpiece of intricate design, captivated the audience with its layers of crystals and beads.

Apart from being a celebrated fashion designer, Manny Halasan continues the legacy of the Halasan family-owned crown, jewelry, and fashion accessory business in Barangay Calvario, Meycauayan, Bulacan. For almost six decades, the Halasan name and creations have carved a reputation as one of the sought-after crowns and jewelry providers for weddings and vital occasions, as well as for provincial, regional, national, and international pageants and affairs.

Visitors to the exhibit had the unique opportunity to admire the creations up close, gaining insight into the meticulous craftsmanship and artistic vision that brought them to life. The La Bulaqueña Exhibit not only celebrates the success of Chelsea Manalo but also honors the rich cultural heritage and artistic excellence of Bulacan.

The La Bulaqueña Exhibit is open to public and will run until July 12 at SM City Marilao, followed by July 19 to August 2 at SM City Baliwag, and will conclude on August 9 to 23 at SM Center Pulilan.
